DARK SHADOWS - CHARACTER PORTRAITS

Image
Excited about Dark Shadows ? I am! Then again it's in my DNA to flock to Tim Burton movies regardless of what they are so... Groovy posters! Heeeere's Johnny... Eva Green looking fab... Cool ghost lady... Hit Girl putting the "cool" in... Dark Shadows... A Burton graduate back for more strangeness... And last but not least Mrs Burton herself. Yes, she is in this. Crazier things have happened. Anyway, movie looks fun, lets hope it is! More posters available on the Empire website.

KAHAANI - POSTER

Image
Here's a poster I came upon the other day at my local cinema for upcoming Bollywood movie Kahaani . "A Mother Of A Story lol" Now I understand there's a religious theme going on here in that she seems to have several arms... coming out of her but really: what is going on behind her?  Is Parallax fighting The Abomination? "References lol" What the poster tells me about this movie is that it involves a heavily pregnant woman with the worst photoshopped head around and... the end of the world/God taking a massive shit/ comic book villains fighting it out/ Tripods are rising from her ass/ she is a new Spider-Man villain. I kid, I kid... The movie itself looks alright and very... normal. Not at all the chaos that ghastly poster suggests. Here's the trailer if you want to check it out. Wait for the very last shot: it's great.

PROMETHEUS - TRAILER

Image
Remember in my Robin Hood review when I told Ridley Scott off for not going back to sci-fi and doing what he does best instead of these endless half-assed attempts at macho-pretentious thrillers, epics and comedies? Probably not. Well I said it and, you know what? After seeing the new Prometheus TRAILER (aka Alien prequel-ish, but not really, or is it?) I might have just developed super-powers because lo and behold: something which looks light years better than ANYTHING Scott's produced since the 80's! And it's sci-fi! *gasp* And give me a break, Gladiator was fine but an Oscar for Crowe? Really? I can grunt. Anyway, Alien prequel or not, Prometheus looks fab and if Scott's film is half as good as it seems I will gladly bow to him once more and have intercourse with my Blade Runner  DVD boxset. It's been too long...

THE SAINT - VAL'S DISGUISES

Image
So I'm watching 1997 flop thriller The Saint starring Val Kilmer and Elisabeth Shue when I decide to check out Wikipedia for more info about the film. A film which involves Russian gangsters, cold fusion and... Ok, it only involves these things. But lets see what Wiki has to say all the same: Sophisticated ones? Lets see... U-huh... I see... Fair enough. Seems accurate enough. WAIT...

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE GHOST PROTOCOL - POSTER CHALLENGE

Image
Now I'm no illustrator or poster designer... at all. Hell, I don't even have Photoshop at the moment. That said, I do enjoy a challenge. Which is why from now on I'll be attempting to make a poster for every coming blockbuster. I warn you: they'll likely all suck. Hence why I encourage you guys to help me and make your own! They don't have to be perfect, just fun. This month we're starting with Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol which has already had its share of posters. Most of them ass, like the ones involving Mr Cruise wearing hood. Some of them decent. I like that one, although is Cruise's nipple on fire? I like that one. Some of them good. This Olly Moss-style IMAX poster is pretty minimalist but it's cool. Here's mine: Yeah, I know. It's bloated and childish. OMG it's M:I 2 !!! Your mission, if you choose to accept it is to send all your entries to razorheadfilmsltd@gmail.com My favourites will be posted on t

DRIVE - REVIEW

Image
For fans of sleazy 80's thrillers, the first 20 minutes of Drive are pretty much the most cream-worthy 20 minutes spent watching a movie for a very long time. Everything is simply perfect: the pace, the look, the tension, the music... it's so good in fact that the rest of the film in comparison is just disappointing. Now don't get me wrong, I wasn't disappointed by Drive: it's very good. I was only disappointed that it wasn't amazing, which it so very closely was. That is, until Carey Mulligan shows up. Understand I have nothing against the actress (besides the fact she's famous and I'm not quite sure why), It's just the character she's been assigned and the way the plot just takes that character for granted feels like a lazy touch in an otherwise spot-on flick. I don't buy that she'd willingly be with Oscar Isaac's character, I don't buy that Gosling's character would jump into such a life-threatening clusterfuck just fo
