Terry Gilliam's latest, The Zero Theorem , finally gets a trailer!

THE EXPENDABLES 3 - TEASER TRAILER

Image
Well, The Expendables 3 finally has a trailer. Of sorts. Ok, it's kinda lame but at least we learn two things: 1/ It's the third film. 2/ All these peeps are in it: Shame you can't really see any of them properly and that one of them is missing (probably Kelsey Grammer?) but here's hoping that the next trailer gives us a little more than an awkward mass catwalk and some whistling. To be continued...

GODZILLA - OFFICIAL TRAILER

Image
Exciting stuff for Godzilla fans: the upcoming new Hollywood attempt at bringing the iconic monster to the big screen finally has a trailer! And it looks surprisingly kinda... good! Of course it's too early to tell but what do you guys think? As far as I'm concerned, the film will only officially have me as soon as it plays this theme in the next trailer:

KIKI'S DELIVERY SERVICE (2014) - PREVIEW

Image
A live-action Kiki's Delivery Service movie?! For real? Yup. Apparently it's happening and it should be out next year! It'll be directed by Takashi Shimizu, known for horror film  Ju-On: The Grudge (and its lesser sequels), and will star Fuka Koshiba as the titular witch. The film will be based on the novel and will essentially re-tell the story told in Studio Ghibli's classic animated feature. There's a teaser trailer (see below) but it shows nothing so I shall keep y'all updated should anymore news about the production arise! Any thoughts on why this movie's being made? Are you looking forward to it? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter @TheRetroCritic ;)

TOP 10 RUMOURS AROUND J.J. ABRAMS' STRANGER

Image
UPDATE (12/09/13): The book?! Really?!! Ok then. So J.J. Abrams recently released a trailer for an unknown project and everyone since has been geeking out and coming up with their own guesses as to what tat project might be. Some of them making more sense than others. Here are my favourite guesses that I've heard so far: 10 being the more probable/boring guess and 1 being the more outlandish/exciting guess. Here we go: 10 BELIEVE Nothing can stop J.J. from dipping his toe in the TV world, it seems. The man is always looking to find the next Alias , the next Lost or the next Fringe . And you gotta love him for that. Almost Human is, of course, the next big thing he's making that's coming out (yes, that robot Karl Urban thing) but he's also been working with Alfonso Cuaron on a grittier sci-fi show with some clear potential. Believe would follow a little girl with psychic abilities and a dude who's trying to protect her from some shady organisa

HEROES: SEASON 2 - REVIEW

Image
After the way Season 1 left things (messy), you could forgive this follow-up season to struggle for a bit before fixing things and getting started. Unfortunately, Season 2's brand new ideas fail to rise above what the whole season is essentially about: filling up those plotholes. Ironically, in the process, new plotholes are introduced and the new stuff mostly fails to gel convincingly with the old stuff to the point where a lot of episodes bring something up that's quite interesting only to cover it all up by the end of it. Take the whole Harvey Two-Face Nathan Petrelli thing, or the potential death of Noah Bennet as foreseen in one of Isaac Mendez's lost paintings, or even Mohinder possibly turning to the dark side: all subplots with potential but none of them really know where they're going and none of them really delivers. Like Season 1, this is very much a season of two halves. Except here it's much shorter. For one half we're mostly concerned with

TOTAL RECALL (2012) - REVIEW

Image
What kind of a world do we live in where people are remaking Arnold Schwarzenegger movies and making them worse?! I mean, it's not like they're remaking the shitty ones either, Conan The Barbarian and Total Recall get remade when the likes of Red Sonja , Hercules In New York and Junior  still roam the Earth? I don't get it. But ok, fine. It's a Philip K. Dick short story so there's room for interpretation and I guess with all the new CG technology available to us, a slicker version of Paul Verhoeven's film could serve at least as decent popcorn entertainment. Or, if it's smart enough, as a kind-of-good companion piece to Minority Report . The trailers promised striking visuals, loads of action and a solid cast so chances were we'd get something half-decent if not quite as retrogasmic as the original film. Alas, what we got was a mixed bag to say the least. Technically, Total Recall is not a bad film. It follows the basic formula of the orig

BIRDEMIC 2 : THE RESURRECTION - TRAILER

Image
Let the bird mayhem begin... again. And this time: they're slightly bigger. Basically more of the same, which should make fans of the original very happy indeed. Apart from the obvious, expected mix of groan-inducing acting, gratuitous ladies-in-their underwear shots, awful sound, shit effects and so on, it seems Birdemic 2 has more of a sense of humour. Take this moment for example: The guys are shooting at some evil vultures (yes that IS meant to be a gunshot on the top right)... When THIS happens: That's just genius. I also like the bird (in the foreground) crashing into the Hollywood sign which is, in fact, waaaay into the background. Did not see that coming. The trailer ends with a weird scene where the girls hit someone with a tripod and their head explodes: Come on! That's not even close to making contact! Yeah I don't know what that scene's about but... I look forward to finding out! A worthy

STOLEN - TRAILER LOLS

Image
Ok, so the new-ish Nicolas Cage film is coming out... ...and it's called STOLEN . Remember how TAKEN was essentially a fun B movie? Well this looks like the C movie version of that. After all: Stolen, Taken, same f****in' thing, right? But is it a "Cagey" enough outing to warrant a viewing? Bear lol Big mouth lol Elevator fight lol Fire car lol Well, it looks like we're in safe Cage territory here. Just sayin', could be fun. Ass, no doubt, but fun.
