2012 PREVIEW: FILMS TO WATCH OUT FOR

My 2012 preview on Fotorater.com .

FRANKENWEENIE - NEW IMAGE

Image
Following on from a preview I made some time ago in regards to Tim Burton's latest stop-motion venture Frankenweenie , here's a new picture from the film just released. Not sure how Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea will come into play but we shall see... Lookin' good.

DON 2 - PREVIEW

Image
All set to watch new Shah Rukh Khan-starring Bollywood sequel Don 2 , I thought I should take a moment and show how great the new poster actually is. Quite a jump from the original one, don't you think? But wait... Is Don ripping out a mask of his own face? Or was he wearing someone else's skin the entire time? I mean, sure Don can be pretty unpredictable... But I never pegged him as a Leatherface-style psycho or... Tom... Cruise? Regardless of how silly the poster looks, I have complete faith in Don 2. It looks like fun.  But will it surpass Don?  That remains to be seen.

SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS - PRE-PREVIEW

Image
Some films sound so good they shouldn't even exist. Shame it's a comedy, for a second there I thought this was gonna be dead serious. And therefore hilarious. Sadly, being built as a joke it might end up feeling a little too self-aware. Fuck it, I'm seeing it.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN - FIRST TRAILER

Image
After the Spiderman 3 misfire (which, to be fair, was pretty darn funny), could it be that we might be getting something very familiar but *gasp* good? Liking it so far. Looks like we'll be getting something closer to the comics. I'm thinking how good or rubbish Rhys Ifans' Lizardman will look will make or break the film. But yeah, surprisingly satisfied with the trailer for now. At least it won't be Turn Off The Dark ...

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES - TEASER TRAILER

Image
Eeeeee! So yeah, here's the Dark Knight Rises teaser. A nice little treat on a rainy day like this one (London). Can't say it reveals much of anything but we do get a sense that something epically badass is about to go down. Not sure how Catwoman will fit into all this Bane on Bat man-fight action and still not convinced the Bane/Catwoman/Rhas Al Ghul villain combination was a good idea to begin with but I can't deny that based on this teaser, it doesn't look like Nolan's jumped the shark just yet. Along with a quick glimpse of Tom Hardy's Bane we get a Commissioner Gordon in hospital looking not too good continuing his awesomely overblown speech from the end of Dark Knight . Unless he's taking over the Two-Face role, I'm guessing either Bane beat the hell out of him or Al Ghul's latest dastardly plan involves some other potent poison spreading throughout Gotham City... ...or Anne Hathaway's catsuit looked too silly and a suicide attempt f

THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN - PREVIEW

Image
Just like probably 99% of French and Belgian people out there, I'm looking forward to Steven Spielberg's take on the classic Tintin franchise. Yes a live action film would have been amazing since the only genuinely good live action Tintin film to date remains Tintin and The Mystery of the Golden Fleece which, as adorable and charming as it is, was made back in 1961. And in terms of animation we have the Tintin animated series (made in the early 90's) which, although they tended to rush through a lot of the books, were near perfect. Growing up with these cartoons, they always felt exciting, smart and grown-up (lets assume Tintin in Congo was a bad dream, yikes). Both the books and the animated series never talked down to its audience, which made it that much better to follow. Now after several unpleasant attempts at "realistic" looking CGI animations ( Polar Express anyone?) and some underrated efforts ( A Christmas Carol ) we're getting a Tintin anima
