ONE GOOD COP - REVIEW

Image
Back in the day, Michael Keaton managed to fit this little flick in between Batman movies. One Good Cop isn't quite the big blockbuster you'd expect the man, The Bat-man, to take on but cop movies were in vogue so why not? The film sees Keaton and Anthony LaPaglia as NYPD cops, the former is married (to Rene Russo, typecast as a cop's wife in EVERYTHING back in the day), the latter is father to three kids, they follow various cases which always end up getting pretty messy. One day, Keaton's partner gets killed recklessly and he is left trying to deal with the best way to give his kids a new home. One Good Cop isn't so much a cop movie as it is a rough-edged melodrama with cops in it. A lot of emphasis is put on literally every character around Keaton so it's hard to pin his down, which means that when he finally does something completely out of character it's pretty jarring. The film's trying to tell this emotional story of a cop, a good guy with

THE COMICS: WHERE TO BEGIN? - GUEST ARTICLE

Movies. Video games. Pajamas. With the wide variety of media that has been infiltrated by Batman, chances get higher all the time that the next Batman fan you meet won't have ever read a Batman comic. If you or someone you know is looking to meet Batman between the pages of a graphic novel, read on to see my top choices & why I recommend them for getting to know Batman in his original medium. 1   BATMAN: YEAR ONE   (Frank Miller) As you may guess from the title, this is a telling of how Bruce Wayne is inspired to become Batman, what he goes through to achieve that goal & what life is like after he first puts on that cowl. Almost everyone knows the basics of that plot already, but it is truly well done here & I think that it is Frank Miller at his best. Aside from the Batman aspect, I urge everyone to read this comic for the reason that it's not only a portrait of Batman, but also of Jim Gordon (Holy first impression, Batman!). The man is awesome. RA.ONE - REVIEW

Image
You ever wonder what would happen if your idiot dad died and was somehow reborn as some magical super being? And I don't mean any of that Jack Frost snowman bullshit. No, I'm talking Ra.One which, now that I think about it, owes more to Jack Frost than I originally thought. Shahrukh Khan plays a games developer who creates a new virtual reality game in which you fight an indestructible villain known as Ra.One. But that shit literally becomes real when the game villain transcends the virtual world into our own and wreaks havoc upon it. How this happens I'm not quite sure but lets just say that suspension of disbelief doesn't even begin to cover it. Cue big action sequences, most of them shot in London, a delicious Endhiran (The Robot) cameo appearance and lots of robot hijinks and tomfooleries. Oh and an entire scene dedicated to a "smoking kills" message. Just like The Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog . That takes me back... Anyway, it turns
