TOP 30 REASONS WHY JUSTICE LEAGUE IS THE BEST COMIC-BOOK MOVIE

Image
A while back, I reviewed the Justice League movie and I wasn't too kind to it. In fact, I was the opposite of kind to it: I was unkind in a big way. After giving the film a couple of re-watchings, I now realize I was wrong and I feel like I understand the movie a lot better now. There were countless things I missed, misunderstood or flat-out lied about so consider this list a re-review and please ignore my initial take on Justice League as it was unfair, silly and wrong. I finally learned to fully appreciate the film's qualities and rethink a lot of the problems I had with the film because they weren't real problems at all. I firmly believe that Justice League is the best comic-book movie ever made and here's why: 30 SOCRATES Famous philosopher Socrates once said: " There is only one good, knowledge, and one evil, ignorance.".   I have never seen a reviewer make this connection but this quote is at the very core of the Justice League mov

BATMAN IN SPACE - REVIEW

Image
Believe it or not, this movie actually exists. Or at least it did... Back in 1975, we got a Superman musical TV special called It's A Bird... It's a Plane... It's Superman . The BBC, wanting to cash-in on what they thought would be a big production unlike anything the world of television had ever seen, decided to produce their own superhero extravaganza. The film cost about £10M which, in dollars, adjusted for inflation, is... like a lot. It was titled Batman In Space and starred a young Michael Caine as Bruce Wayne/Batman with Jeremy Irons as Robin. The plot was confusing, to say the least, as no less than eight writers chipped-in ideas including an ageing Agatha Christie. The Joker (played by Michael Gough) having escaped Arkham Asylum, travels to the Moon in order to play the biggest, cruelest joke of all: destroy the world from a great distance. After finding out that a rocket has been stolen from NASA, Batman soon figures out The Joker's plan and Commi

TEENAGE MICHAEL BAY NINJA TURTLES - REVIEW

Image
I must admit, I was skeptical. When it was announced that Michael Bay would produce a reboot of something as beautifully retro and as beloved as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles , I was certain that this would backfire into quite probably the biggest mistake of his career. But then I remembered other films produced by Bay: I Am Number Four , the Nightmare On Elm Street remake, the Hitcher remake, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, the Amityville Horror remake, the Friday The 13th remake, that film with that lady's behind on the poster. All strikingly original films which have LITERALLY shaped my twenties. And with a Bay-produced remake of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds on the way, it's looking like the director/artiste is back at the top of his game. Like a chimp meeting a cage for the first time. Case and point: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The film opens with a montage showing how the titular turtles came to be. The "ooze", in this version, is transl
