Ok, so Michael Bay's latest Transformers movie, Transformers: Age Of Extinction, finally got a trailer this week, thanks to the Superbowl, and it was... well, interesting.
Now, unfortunately you still have human characters running around screaming, which I'm guessing is all they can do in this movie since the Autobots look a bit too busy with those Dinobots and Decepticons to really pay any attention to them.
The trailer opens with some fun Autobot action in the countryside:
Complete with dramatic moments:
And cars being sliced in half:
Alright, so the trailer does a good job at keeping your attention throughout but, just in case, it still finds the time to fit in a big-ass gun:
And some space action:
After some awkward slo-mo shots of Mark Wahlberg and co, we finally get some short glimpses at the main action sequences in the film:
Green Autobot with parachute jumping out of a building before taking on a John Woo movie-style pose and shooting two guns from side to side... fair enough. I could get behind that.
It's silly but it could make for a fun action scene, definitely.
Unfortunately, soon after, this happens:
Now I have nothing against a two-headed pterodactyl Dinobot but can anyone tell what's going on in this screenshot? I mean, I'm just scared that, once again, we'll be getting a lot of action you can't even see properly with robots you can't differentiate.
This has been a big problem since the very first film, of course.
But then, the trailer had me again with probably the most awesome thing I've seen in any Transformers movie:
Ok, now I realise that the way they'll explain this in the movie will probably be really, really dumb and, most likely, laughable but...
It's a big robot riding a big robot dinosaur holding a sword!!!
Can't argue with that shit!
That's easily the greatest image in any Transformers film thusfar and, even if the movie sucks, which it very well might, at least we'll get to see something this amazingly goofy and goofily amazing!
The trailer ends with that Dinobot bursting through a wall it could have easily avoided lol
Overall, it's a promising trailer but, as much as I'm looking forward to seeing those Dinobots on the big screen, I kinda expect the usual disappointment that reliably comes with every Michael Bay Transformers film.
